Collection: Villa Era

Vigliano is the first daisy-in the chain of Nebbiolo villages that follow the foothills of the Monte Rosa west from Biella. The soils are sandy, with marl and clays over fossil rich limestone, the wines can trace their descendants to the Middle Ages.
Villa Era was built in 1888, a neo-classical folly surrounded by parkland. The adjoining cellar is a century older and was beautifully restored in 2022 by the Rivetti family, owners since 1935, The vineyard provides a backdrop for the Villa, it has been painstakingly renovated, propagating from the original Nebbiolo clones, planted alongside some Vespolina, Croatina and Barbera. The land is farmed using natural solutions, very much in keeping with the ethos found in the Villa’s library which is home to early Steiner works. Andrea Manfrinati is responsible for both the vineyards and the winemaking; he has a beautiful space in which to craft just 1500 bottles each year, his approach is thoughtful and sympathetic.
